Radiance
Cinematic graphics for Stardew Valley. It works on top of whatever your game already draws, so recolours and map mods just work.
Same morning, new light
Drag the line. Left is the game as it ships, right is the same moment with Radiance: shadows from the sun, water that moves, light that has a direction.
Recorded in game at 3440x1440, 60 fps, with Stardew Valley Expanded and the author's own art mods.
Works with
Light that knows what time it is
Every effect reads the frame your game already drew, so it follows your recolour, your sprites and your maps. Each one has its own switch.
And much more: over 300 settings in F6, every effect with its own switch.
What changed, version by version
Nothing of that kind in these versions.
Wet ground, rebuilt
Rain darkens and shines the ground by what it is made of. Puddles gather, and the street lamps streak across the wet stone. The same rainy street three ways:
Windows from 97 mods mapped by hand
Light from the glass knows the panes of these windows, so the light falls in their real shape. Any other window keeps the light it has today. A leaf marks a window with a sheer curtain.
Install in a minute
Install SMAPI
The mod loader for Stardew Valley. Get it from smapi.io if you don't have it yet.
Unzip into Mods
Download from Nexus and unzip into your Mods folder. Safe to add or remove mid-save. Generic Mod Config Menu is optional.
Press F6 in game
Every setting, over the game, with the change on screen right away. Start from a preset or share your own look as a code.
F6Make it lighter in a minute
Everything below is in the Performance tab of the tuner. Press F6 in game. On a phone, open it from the config menu: SDV-Radiance, Hotkeys & diagnostics, Open the Radiance tuner.
- Let it measure your machine. Under Measure this machine, press Run benchmark (10s), then Use the suggested setting.
- Or step down a preset. Under Quality presets: Quality, Balanced, Performance, Low spec. Go one step at a time until it runs smoothly.
- Lower the effect resolution. Effect resolution at 0.5 costs about a quarter of 1.0 and looks cleanest with pixel art. The game itself stays full size. Turn on Lower it automatically when needed so it only drops while the game can't keep up.
- Lighter soft effects. Set it to When slow or Always. Clouds, bloom, blur and lighting are worked out smaller, with no visible change.
- Find the expensive one. Turn on Show the cost readout on screen. It lists what each effect costs on your machine, so you can switch off just that one in its own tab.
